Situated in Bellahouston Park, only 10 minutes from Glasgow City Centre, House for an Art Lover, a 4 star rated Tourist Board visitor attraction is a truly unique venue.
Designed by the famous Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, House for an Art Lover provides an excellent resource for visitors as a cultural attraction and tourist destination, whilst also being one of the city’s finest wedding and event venues.
The Mackintosh Suite of rooms have been realised by contemporary artists and crafts people from the designs in the original portfolio, turning Mackintosh’s vision into reality. Visitors can compare these original drawings against each completed room and also take a personal audio guide tour.
ART LOVERS CAFE & GALLERY
The House is also home to the popular Art Lovers Café. As well as the lunch menu you can enjoy breakfast from 10am and afternoon tea daily. During the summer months there is al fresco dining available on the Cafe Terrace. The Cafe is open daily from 10am to 5pm with our lunch menu being served from 12noon. The Cafe Gallery is a contemporary programme of art exhibitions hosted throughout the year; these exhibitions can be viewed whilst you are dining, or you can pop in anytime within the Cafe opening hours for a look.
ART LOVERS SHOP
The Art Lovers’ Shop offers a wide selection of Mackintosh-inspired products, alongside a variety of hand-crafted jewellery, home accessories and funky must have gifts. Open daily from 10am – 5pm.
House for an Art Lover is a charitable company whose primary purpose is the stimulation of public interest in Art, Design & Architecture. During your visit you can also take in a visit to the Heritage Centre, showcasing the rich and diverse history of Bellahouston and the surrounding area.
The Studio Pavilion is home to a year round calendar of exhibitions, featuring a diverse range of artists – definitely worth a look. The Art Park also home to working studios and sheds, housing art classes throughout the year.
House for an Art Lover is set in the leafy surroundings of Bellahouston Park, and features a beautiful walled garden and various arts sculptures within the grounds – including a life sized Elephant! Grounds for Play, a small play park close the House, is an imaginative and challenging space for children to enjoy all forms of play – designed as part of House for an Art Lovers remit for promoting arts related activities.
